The Arthurs - Mr. Ebenezer Arthur, his wife Abigail and their two daughters (Louis and Elis) run a home-to-home laundry service. In 2020 their home-based laundry business was threatened by COVID 19, a year after he accessed the financial services of VisionFund.

Despite the roars of COVID, Arthur didn’t give up, he reapplied for another loan to stabilise the business. “I really appreciated the services of VisionFund during the COVID period, the business survived COVID under the financial-vaccine of VisionFund,” he says.

Arthur and his wife are determined to systematically sail their children’s dream through quality education. Despite the lockdowns and closing of school during COVID, Arthur was able to employ the services of a private tutor to school his children; from the profit of the loan, he was able to pay the teacher. In an interview Arthur disclosed that his understanding of the future of his children broadened when in one of the group trainings by VisionFund, he learnt that every child has a brighter future and can fulfil his or her life when the parents are financially stable. This knowledge has been his mantra to-date. “The children deserve a good foundation, and until VisionFund fades away, they’re my source for economic power,” he says.

In an interaction with the two sisters about what they want to do when they group grow up, Louis, the eldest, said she wanted to be a doctor; so, it’s not surprising that her parents already call her Doctor Louis. Africa awaits the coming of a wonderful doctor. Elis, the younger one, repeated her sister’s vision and childishly laughed along. She hasn’t formed a vision yet but her energetic spirit is well formed.

“Their vision is their responsibility; my responsibility is to create the fertile ground for them to polish it and flourish. This always reminds me never to take the financial aid by VisionFund for granted,” Arthur says.

Every child has a dream. To be something magnificent. To be the influence that keeps this world’s unending rotation on a perfect axis. The requirement is accessibility to financial aid and the conscious efforts of parents to assure their children of a brighter future through education.
