VisionFund Uganda grants early Christmas to the Watoto Children!

VisionFund Uganda Senior Management team hands over items to Watoto team

As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility strategy, VisionFund Uganda visited Watoto Suubi Children's Village. During the visit, the VisionFund Uganda Senior Management Team was able to meet and interact with members of the Village Core team, the body charged with oversight of the village operations and the welfare of the children.

During the vision casting session, Pastor Chris Erabu took the team through the journey of Watoto Childcare which currently runs three villages; two in the Kampala area and one in Gulu, Northern Uganda where they take care of the vulnerable women and orphans.

The session was followed by a tour around the village for VisionFund Uganda Senior Managers to appreciate the work that Watoto is doing in the lives of their beneficiaries. According to Pastor Chris, Watoto is taking care of over 3,000 children in all three villages. Watoto Church's focus is celebrating Christ and caring for community.

VisionFund Uganda Chief Executive Officer, Mercy Sande Ainomugisha reiterated our commitment to ensuring that we partner with like-minded Christian organizations like Watoto Church whose focus is celebrating Christ and caring for community. This is in line with two of our core values “We are Christian”, “We are Partners”. She further commended Watoto for the great work they are doing and continued to pledge support in line with our Mission of creating brighter futures for vulnerable children in Uganda.

“At VisionFund Uganda, every product and service we offer to our customers should translate into transforming the lives of children. Through the impact surveys we conduct bi-annually, we are able to measure the impact of our interventions in the communities we serve through the Child Wellbeing Objectives like access to education, health, water & sanitation, food & nutrition and shelter amongst others”, Mercy emphasized.

The event climaxed with cake cutting and handover of domestic, scholastic and sports equipment to facilitate the holistic growth and development of children. Watoto leadership expressed enthusiasm in working with VisionFund Uganda as a key strategic partner to extend financial services towards the beneficiaries of Watoto Neighborhood Women by giving them a hands up and not a hand out as they improve their livelihood.
