VisionFund Senegal (VFS) Microfinance, SA, was opened in July 2016 and started its operations in March 2017. We provide financial services to people who would otherwise have little or no access to credit. We serve the country’s poorest people by helping them start or grow their own businesses through loans of just a few hundred dollars.
VFS Microfinance, SA's mission is to facilitate rural and vulnerable populations, to have access to a conventional financial system, to access financial services nearby, at competitive costs, to facilitate the start-up or development of Income Generating Activities (IGAs), to improve their living conditions and especially those of their children. VFS Microfinance SA mainly targets women micro entrepreneurs.
VFS Microfinance, SA’s National Office is based in Dakar and operates in six of Senegal’s fourteen regions: Fatick, Kaolack, Kaffrine, Kolda, Kedougou and Tambacounda. With a network of six branches in the regions mentioned above, in June 2019 its performance stands as follow: portfolio, US $ 6,342,738 million with 24,375 clients, 2,619 groups served and 97,547 children impacted.
Going forward, VFS Microfinance, SA plans to increase its outreach by upgrading two sub‐ branches, Koungheul and Khounkane, into full branches as a key step to expand its network while improving control of activities in these areas.
