Our Commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals

In 2015, the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were formally adopted by all countries as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The SDGs are an urgent call for action by all countries to work together in a global partnership. They recognise that ending poverty and other deprivations must come together with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth.

VisionFund, with the advocacy and support of its parent organisation World Vision, recognise and support the SDGs in every country in which we work.

VisionFund’s SDG Focus

VisionFund has committed its impact agenda to nine SDGs, to support World Vision in its strategic aims.
Our Core Impact Goals are that:

  • Women and men are able to grow sustainable livelihoods
  • The resilience of communities to economic shocks is improved
  • Households’ vulnerability to extreme poverty is reduced
  • Girls and boys have adequate shelter, food, healthcare, education, water and sanitation

Sustainable Development Goals

SDO-01

VisionFund focuses on reaching the poorest households in remote rural communities, so that the furthest are always first.

SDO-02

By providing financial inclusion products, VisionFund is working to ensure that all households can afford nutritious food.

SDO-05

With 70% of our clients being women, we are aiming to close the gap on traditional gender inequalities in the financial services industry.

Strengthening client resilience and adaptive capacity is VisionFund's approach to respond to climate-related hazards and natural disasters.

Our Promise

In 2017, World Vision launched its organisational strategy, in part as a companion to the global 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The strategy, Our Promise, is a promise to vulnerable children: to relentlessly pursue our vision, for every child, life in all its fullness; our prayer for every heart, the will to make it so, until they:

  • Enjoy good health and are protected from disease
  • Are educated for life and enabled to fulfil their potential
  • Are cared for, protected and participating
  • Experience the profound security of the love of God and others

Life in all its fullness is the central mission for both World Vision and VisionFund. In all our work, we are committed to:

  • Deepen our commitment to the most vulnerable
  • Focus our ministry for greater results
  • Collaborate and advocate for broader impact
  • Deliver high quality, sustainable funding
  • Live out our Christian faith and calling with boldness and humility

Our commitment to following Christ compels us to change.
