Our Commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals
In 2015, the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were formally adopted by all countries as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The SDGs are an urgent call for action by all countries to work together in a global partnership. They recognise that ending poverty and other deprivations must come together with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth.
VisionFund, with the advocacy and support of its parent organisation World Vision, recognise and support the SDGs in every country in which we work.
VisionFund’s SDG Focus
VisionFund has committed its impact agenda to nine SDGs, to support World Vision in its strategic aims.
Our Core Impact Goals are that:
- Women and men are able to grow sustainable livelihoods
- The resilience of communities to economic shocks is improved
- Households’ vulnerability to extreme poverty is reduced
- Girls and boys have adequate shelter, food, healthcare, education, water and sanitation

Our Promise
In 2017, World Vision launched its organisational strategy, in part as a companion to the global 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The strategy, Our Promise, is a promise to vulnerable children: to relentlessly pursue our vision, for every child, life in all its fullness; our prayer for every heart, the will to make it so, until they:
- Enjoy good health and are protected from disease
- Are educated for life and enabled to fulfil their potential
- Are cared for, protected and participating
- Experience the profound security of the love of God and others

Client Impact Stories
A mother at 15. A business owner at 26.
For many women in this community, who, like Mariam, marry at a very young age and bear most of the weight of caring for children, access to finance not only serves as a source of support but opens up opportunities and new possibilities. VisionFund’s ‘Women’s Empowerment Fund’ aims to serve and empower such vulnerable women to overcome financial and communal barriers; creating hope and brighter futures.

Daw Khin Than May shares her story and how VisionFund has supported her and her family. Thanks to that support, she was able to provide resources for her children to study properly.
Alice's Story
Alice and her husband, Sydney, have two daughters, Bennadett and Clemensia. They are part of the Mposa community in Machinga, Malawi. Their region suffered from a widespread drought, which destroyed the primary crops farmers planted for their livelihoods.
Recovery Loans from VisionFund have helped many families in the Mposa area rebuild their livelihoods after their maize crop failed twice due to drought and then floods.
