Vietnam | About Us

Microfinance is widely recognized as an effective tool contributing to the poverty alleviation goals in community. In 2006, World Vision International in Vietnam established Microfinance Unit in order to help the poor, near-poor, low-income households, households with children including the Most Vulnerable Children (MVC), and women to access financial resources, strengthen their livelihoods, empower women and sustain child well-being in communities

Lending money is like lending hope. By providing small loans and other financial services to business-minded people, we enable them to build the future they want. When resourceful business owners generate a reliable source of income through a small loan, they can feed their families and ensure their children stay in school.

Currently, Microfinance Unit of World Vision International Vietnam is operating in 11 districts of 4 provinces in the North and Central Vietnam including Hung Yen, Thanh Hoa, Quang Tri and Quang Nam with possibility to expand in the future. These are rural and mountainous districts with higher poverty rate and lower socio-economic status compared to other areas in Vietnam.
