Kate Lam

Managing Director, Ideanomics

Kate is Managing Director at Ideanomics, a fintech and clean energy company, where she is responsible for capital markets activities and traditional and digital finance. She is also a board member of the Delaware Board of Trade, an US government registered broker dealer.

Kate has worked in finance for more than 25 years. She has held senior management positions at Deutsche Bank, Bear Stearns and Standard Chartered Bank. Kate has worked in both Asia and the United States where she led diverse teams in various regions. She has worked with large international institutions such as central banks, insurance companies, funds and banks. More recently Kate has pivoted her career to fintech and start-ups, the intersection between traditional finance and technological innovation.

Kate has been active with volunteer work. She went on a mission trip to Uganda and volunteered in Kenya where she helped build classrooms and worked with orphanages for children affected by AIDS. Kate grew up as a member of the Gross Pointe Memorial Church in Michigan, was an active member of Island Evangelical Community Church in Hong Kong and is now attending New York City’s Redeemer Presbyterian Church. She is also involved with the Asian American alumni community at the University of Pennsylvania, including mentoring and alumni networking. Kate received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania. She lectures and speaks on topics such as fintech, digital financial products, and digital transformation. She is an avid traveller and foodie and has visited all seven continents.
